Spring Term Overview 2025-2026
This half term our Christian value is Equality and our daily collective worship will focus on this value.
This term we are continuing with our Geography unit about Rivers. We are learning about the World’s longest rivers, locating them on maps and finding how rivers are used. This will help up when in History we will learn about Ancient Civilisations like the Indus, Shang Dynasty, Ancient Mesopotamia and then an in-depth study about Ancient Egypt. We will learn about how these civilisations were located close to rivers, how people lives and what their legacies were.
In English, we will be continuing a writing unit based on the book Rhythm of the Rain. We will begin reading a new class novel – Secrets of a Sun King and continue to work on our reading fluency.
In Maths, both year 3 and 4 will start continue learning about multiplication and division initially.
In RE, we will be learning about Islam and their beliefs before moving onto Christianity. We are getting better at RE by using the characters Theo, Livvy and Sophie.
In Science we are learning about Electricity with a spotlight scientist Nicola Tesla. We will be learning about simple series circuits, identifying appliances that use electricity and understanding the terms insulators and conductors.
Our PE this term will be on Fridays and we will be taking part in Orienteering and Leadership.
For homework, children read to read at least 3 times a week to an adult. Then also need to practise their times tables on TTRockstars and complete their spelling homework.
